Airbag belt protects hips
Wolk Company, based in the Hague, was founded in 2013 by Filippo van Hellenberg Hubar and Mendes Hogestyn, two former students of TU Delft, and Leiden-based project developer Hans Schröder. The company invented WOLK, an airbag belt that prevents hip fractures. Vulnerable elderly people with a fear of falling can regain confidence by wearing the belt, which greatly improves their quality of life.
