3D hand scanning and printing for the perfect hand/wrist brace

In the Netherlands, more than 250,000 hand and wrist braces are fitted each year. A lot of are used by patients with chronic conditions such as rheumatism and osteoarthritis. Because current braces have limited functionality and often feel uncomfortable and ungainly, many are unused and left in a drawer.

Manometric has developed a much faster and more accurate way to fit hand and wrist braces. In a fraction of a second, a 3D hand scanner makes a very accurate scan. Using Manometric’s software, a personalised brace is then 3D printed based on the scan results and modifications are made by the orthopaedic technician
