Concord improves care during the first critical minutes of life

In the Netherlands, approximately 12,000 children are born prematurely each year, more than 30 a day. Children born prematurely have a greater risk of permanent physical and mental complications. The advantages of waiting several minutes before cutting the umbilical cord (delayed cord clamping) have been recognised worldwide: there is a higher chance of survival and less risk of complications. Concord Neonatal has developed a delivery table that after birth allows the baby to be placed on a bed positioned over the mother so that the umbilical cord can remain connected.
